Upcoming Events

There are many ways to get involved with ASTC’s Community Science Initiative to learn about resources and opportunities, meet other community science practitioners, discuss your work, and collaborate to take your community science efforts to a deeper level!

Virtual Events

ASTC’s Community Science Initiative offers regular opportunities for members to connect, share, and learn from each other virtually:

  • Webinars are short, focused presentations on a timely community science topic, opportunity, or resource, followed by Q&A. More presentation-oriented than interactive, webinars are designed for sharing information efficiently and accessibly. Webinars typically last 30-45 minutes.
  • Workshops are longer topical sessions that include both presentations from ASTC staff and/or guest speakers, discussions, and interactive exercises. Attendees should come prepared to engage and contribute their own ideas, experiences, and questions. Workshops may include large group discussion, breakout rooms, whiteboard activities, and other interactive elements. Workshops typically last 90 minutes.
  • Meetups are informal gatherings open to community science practitioners at all levels of experience. Each meetup focuses on a different theme, grounded by short “discussion sparks” from a guest speaker. Meetups are a great opportunity to network with peers in the community science space, bring up sticky questions related to your community science efforts, and get inspired. Meetups generally last 60 minutes.

Stay tuned for more virtual events in 2026!
