About Resource
The National Co-Ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) is a UK-based organization which seeks to promote cultural change through public engagement, with a particular focus on supporting universities in public engagement. They do so through providing users with the necessary tools, resources, strategies, as well as advice and learnings from previous projects and publications.
The organization aims to reach three main goals: 1) support excellent public engagement; 2) create conditions for public engagement, in particular in universities; and 3) build a series of strong networks and partnerships to amplify impact and voices.
The NCCPE website is a useful reference for all who are entering into the space of public engagement. Not only does it help to define what engagement is and what it can entail, but it also provides a series of concrete steps for how to practice public engagement, including a walk through of the methods, understanding audiences, planning and funding, and more.
How to Use
Resources created by the NCCPE for previous projects and programs are available on their online resources repository. Users can filter for materials based on the resource type, including tools and frameworks, briefing papers, evaluation reports, and more. In addition, users can search based on a topic, including cultural change, ethics, professional development, and more.
Downloading case studies, tools, resource packs, evaluation reports, and more can be particularly helpful for users who want to use examples as a basis for developing new materials and programming. While initially intended for universities, lessons learned and topics in NCCPE materials can be transferred to developing materials for science museums and science engagement programming.
